Our three main methodologies include data analysis through publicly sourced data, Natural Language Processing (sentiment analysis), and thorough social media data analysis and academic research.
Meet the Team
Chief Executive Officer
Mikayla is from Los Angeles, CA and is a UC Berkeley senior studying Environmental Economics with a Human Rights minor. In her spare time, Mikayla enjoys dance, food photography, spending time with loved ones, and volunteering. After Berkeley, Mikayla hopes to merge her passions for business and social impact by working with nonprofits to create data-focused business strategies for a wide range of social causes.
Chief Analytics officer
Jin is from Chongqing, China. Jin is a Master's student from Columbia University majoring in Business Analytics. She is thrilled about applying data science/analytics into business practice as well as nonprofits to make a difference. With experience in consulting, data science and nonprofits, Jin is especially an expert in social media analysis and natural language processing. In her spare time, she is an amateur in yoga and dancing!
Chief research officer
Chelsie is from San Francisco, CA and is currently a 4th year Communication Studies major at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with minors in Chinese, Ethnic Studies, and Science and Risk Communications. Chelsie is interested in ethical and accessible science communication, especially around emerging technologies. In her free time, she likes playing tabletop games, cooking, and doing a bit of amateur gardening.

Black Lives Matter, Always ("BLM, Always") is an ongoing data-driven project of The Activism Always Team
Black Lives Matter, Always documented the events of Summer 2020, following the murder of George Floyd. Online content was collected and analyzed using Natural Language Processing to reveal insights about the changing sentiments around the Black Lives Matter movement.
Our project was presented at TechSoup and ParsonsTKO's Data for Social Impact Conference in August 2020.
